From MCC to the Saturn Coefficient: A Two-Day Seminar on Evaluation Metrics & Dimensionality Reduction with Prof. Davide Chicco

The Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI @ETF) programme at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Sarajevo is delighted to host Assistant Professor Davide Chicco (University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy & University of Toronto, Canada), an internationally recognized researcher in machine learning evaluation and biomedical data science.

Over two days, Dr. Chicco will share insights into one of the most important – but often overlooked – aspects of machine learning: how to properly evaluate models and interpret their results.

πŸ“… July 1, 2026 | 11:00–12:00
How to assess my results? Evaluation metrics for supervised and unsupervised machine learning results
πŸ‘‰ Discover why choosing the right evaluation metric matters, and learn about best practices for classification, regression, and clustering tasks.

πŸ“… July 3, 2026 | 11:00–12:00
The advantages of our proposed Saturn coefficient over continuity and trustworthiness for UMAP dimensionality reduction evaluation
πŸ‘‰ Learn about the newly proposed Saturn coefficient, an innovative metric for evaluating UMAP dimensionality reduction by quantifying how well both local and global data structures are preserved.

πŸ“ Location: Room S1
Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Sarajevo

We look forward to welcoming students, researchers, and professionals to these engaging talks!
