We are excited to announce that the second application period is open.

The application period is as follows:

From August 25, 2025 to September 5, 2025 for study programs that require an entrance examination.

From August 25, 2025 to September 12, 2025 for study programs that do not require an entrance examination.

For the second application period, the following places remain available:

43 places for self-financing students

46 places for distance learning (DL) students

7 places for international students

All other relevant information regarding candidate applications for admission in the 2025/2026 academic year will be published in due time on the Faculty’s website.


Our program is designed to accommodate both Full-time and Distance Learning (DL) students.

DSAI Application Process

  • UNSA announcement of Student Enrolment Process is issued at the beginning of June.
  • Enrolment application can be completed exclusively online, through the eUNSA information system.
  • Candidates must pass an entrance exam in Mathematics, organized at the Faculty premises (typically in the first week of July).
  • Distance learning students need not pass the entrance exam.
  • The Faculty strives to organize preparatory classes for the entrance exam (E.g. In 2023 it was organized from June 12th to 16th).

DSAI Enrolment Process

The Faculty Council has established specific criteria for ranking candidates, which currently include:
  • Overall high school grades,
  • Subject grades in Native Language, English Language, Mathematics and Physics (with a focus on the latter two),
  • Results achieved in the entrance exam (not eliminatory),
  • Performance in mathematics, physics, and informatics competition.

International Student Information

Joining the DSAI program at the University of Sarajevo (UNSA) as an international student involves two main steps: completing the academic admission process at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (ETF) and regulating your legal stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina:

The DSAI Bachelor's program is open to international candidates through a competitive application process.

  • 10 places reserved for international students per academic year
  • Applications submitted online via upisi.unsa.ba
  • Application period opens in early June each year
  • Entrance exam in Mathematics held at the Faculty in the first week of July
  • Entrance exam fee: 40.00 BAM — proof of payment must be uploaded during application
  • Ranking is based on:
    • Overall secondary school grades
    • Grades in Native Language, English, Mathematics, and Physics
    • Entrance exam result
    • Awards from mathematics, physics, or informatics competitions

 

To regulate your temporary residence (stay longer than 90 days), you will need the following 15 documents when applying at the Foreigner’s Affairs Office (FAO):

For Application:

  1. Completed online application via upisi.unsa.ba
  2. Secondary school diploma and official transcripts
  3. Copy of passport (bio-data page)
  4. Proof of payment of entrance exam fee (40.00 BAM)
  5. Proof of payment for ETF and UNSA Student Information System access

For Residence Permit (After Arrival):

  1. Application form — downloaded from sps.gov.ba, printed double-sided on one page
  2. Proof of paid administrative tax — 150 BAM, paid at a bank or post office
  3. Passport photo — 35x45 mm
  4. Copy of passport — bio-data page and entry stamp page (photocopied, not photographed)
  5. Copy of White Card
  6. Certificate of enrollment — issued by your ETF/DSAI coordinator; covers financial means and mobility confirmation in one document
  7. Medical attestation — obtained at an approved Sarajevo clinic; approx. 40–50 EUR
  8. Proof of valid health insurance — must be in or translated into Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian; approx. 30 EUR
  9. Non-criminal record from home country — issued within 6 months, apostilled or embassy-verified, translated by a certified court translator
  10. Proof of accommodation — signed rental agreement or landlord statement verified at the Municipal Office

Submit at: Foreigners' Affairs Office, Michaela Schumachera Street 10, Sarajevo

All foreign-language documents must be translated by a certified court translator.

Entry Visa

  • No visa required for citizens of EU member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Turkey
  • All other nationalities should check the visa regime for their country
  • If a visa is required, the Faculty provides an invitation letter and acceptance letter — allow up to 60 days for this process

White Card

  • Mandatory for all foreign nationals
  • Must be obtained within 48 hours of arrival
  • Location: Michaela Schumachera Street 10, Sarajevo
  • Cost: 11.90 BAM
  • Bring: copy of passport, proof of accommodation, proof of paid tax

Temporary Residence Permit

  • Required for stays longer than 90 days
  • Cost: 150 BAM, paid at a bank or post office before visiting the FAO
  • A confirmation document is issued on the spot while the residence sticker is processed

  • Diplomas issued outside Bosnia and Herzegovina must be formally recognised before enrollment is finalised

  • All documents must be apostilled (Hague Convention countries) or verified by the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina

  • All documents must be translated by a certified court translator

  • Start this process as early as possible — it can take several weeks
